Little Known Errata
or Tips for the Newby
or Who'da Thunk That?
Here are ten miscellaneous "tips" or comments that might interest any newbie. (Or vet for that matter.)
- A 3 ST warrior can have more than "little" damage.
- You can fight your new warrior before you see the rollup profile. Simply send in
the strategy and list "new" as the ID. Vets often fight or DA warriors on the
same round as the warrior is created.
- No matter what any expert tells you about design or strategy, it is not gospel.
It may be good or great or common advice, but it is not necessarily the only good
advice.
- You can run additional teams--even while you are "training" on Noblish Island.
- There is no "one best" armor or weapon.
- As much as you love your warrior, or your warrior's design, or your warrior's
results, there is something better.
- D2 is a friendly place. While very competitive, most of the vets know each
other, see each other at Faces, chat with each other on line, and even help each
other out with advice and ideas. The fount of knowledge available now, about D2,
was acquired by a collective "working together" and sharing info.
- An overly mean, overbearing, threatening, haughty, unfriendly character/manager
is likely to be colluded against and ostracized by D2 regulars. Just tellin' ya.
- Poor penmanship or inaccurate info on the strategy sheet has caused managers more
headaches than one can imagine.
- The RSI people are "good" people. They are not about manipulating, selling up,
or making the game difficult for you. (This is from a long time customer.)
- Phone a friend--or find one. This hobby plays best when you share / challenge /
brag / lament with someone else.
- Find a way to access the massive information on reality.com and Terrablood.com.
No one can easily relay such info to you. Go get it. (The DM93 Noblish Island
newsletter offers a lot, and retaining copies is recommended. But .....)
- Not all warriors get the jump by going 10-10-x D.
- Enter your warriors in Mailers. There is a great thrill in competing with
warriors from other arenas. And for the ultimate, attend a Face-To-Face
tournament and meet the vets of the game. You will be glad you did.
- Read your fight results with an eagle eye. There is much to be learned about
your warrior from what you read there--win or lose.
- Any time your warrior loses, it is possible for them to die. Deaths in the
infirmary, while uncommon, do happen and can be maddening. There is only one way
to avoid the possibility if death in D2 arenas--win.
- Your appreciation of an arena rises when you write or get personal ads. Role
play to the max.
- You do not have to blood feud. You do not have to challenge or avoid. But your
win-loss record will probably thank you if you do.
- Rookie warriors, surprisingly, but very seldom, win in The Dark Arena. Some
managers routinely send their graduating and immortal warrior for a final fight
against The Dark Arena.
- Fun is the name of the game. It has kept me playing for 25+ years.
